The responsibilities of a construction manager are vast. This collection of courses addresses the four common categories of tasks that a construction manager faces on a daily basis.
Each course has 24 contact hours, or 2.4 continuing education units (CEUs). Completion of the four courses of the certificate offers 9.6 CEU's.
Construction Project Management
In this course participants concentrate on the procedures and methods used by the construction contractor during the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases of a project. Emphasis is placed on the construction phase. You will examine the need to plan, organize, manage, control and document jobsite activities.
Construction Planning and Scheduling
As a participant in this course, you will address the analysis and evaluation of the elements of planning & scheduling construction projects. You will also review diagramming methods of scheduling and use MS Project computer software.
Construction Cost Estimating
This course enables participants to evaluate and analyze the basic elements of estimating construction costs. Emphasis is placed on Division 1 through Division 6 takeoff and pricing. Overhead and profit-as they are related to bidding strategies-are also included. Use of computer spreadsheets and estimating software are incorporated into the class.
Construction Contract Law and Negotiation
The course provides an overview of legal and business issues potentially encountered while working within the construction industry. The intent of the course is to expose students to the most common and pertinent issues so that they can recognize potential business and legal pitfalls in the industry.
